Hosted by Brisbane fashion style leader Hannah Murphy, and set amongst the beautiful gardens of Brookfield, this is an opportunity to connect, learn, and enjoy a delicious lunch in wonderful company.

Foemina, the Latin word for woman, is an Australian womenswear label founded on the principles of slow fashion, thoughtful design and feminine ease.

Bec and Holly have been friends since school, with more than twenty years of friendship behind them. Their professional paths, however, took them in very different directions.

Holly spent years working in-house with leading Australian designers Jac+Jack and Easton Pearson, while Bec spent a decade working as a dentist.

In 2021, they came together to create Foemina.

Today, Bec works from Brisbane while Holly lives on a sheep and cattle property in western Queensland, around twelve hours away. The pair have worked via video call almost every day since launching the business, building an Australian fashion label despite the enormous distance between them.

That contrast has also helped shape Foemina itself.

Bec’s city geometry meets Holly’s open skies. Structure meets softness. Practicality meets femininity.

Foemina’s garments are thoughtfully constructed from natural fibres, with clean architectural silhouettes and intentional details designed to form the foundations of a refined wardrobe. Rather than chasing trends, the label embraces a slower and more considered approach to fashion, creating versatile pieces designed to be worn and loved for years.

The Conversation

Hosted by Hannah Murphy, this intimate conversation will explore much more than fashion.

Bec and Holly will share the story of how two longtime friends with very different careers decided to create a business together, how they collaborate from opposite sides of Queensland, and what it really takes to build an independent Australian label.

Enjoy a beautiful seasonal lunch at Wild Canary as part of our Creatives & Makers series, an afternoon designed around good food, meaningful conversation and the opportunity to hear directly from people doing interesting things exceptionally well.
