Top Tips to Hedging and Edging

Creating a new garden can sometimes feel quite daunting. Watch this video to get some basics around hedging and edging.

Murraya paniculata is one of the most common hedging plants used in Brisbane and South East Queensland. It can be hedged frequently for a crisp, formal look or cut less frequently for a more free look. This also allows the flowers to be abundant during spring and summer. Given the right conditions, it will spot flower during other times of the year.

Another hedging plants that we love in Brisbane is the Syzygium Lilly Pilly varieties like 'Resilience'.

For smaller hedge plants try Murraya 'Min-a-min', which grows to around 1m in height but is happy when trimmed shorter.

To create borders, try Liriope 'Evergreen Giant' a fantastic versatile plant, happy in full sun or shade conditions. Makes a great border, and is low maintenance due to it's clumping habit. It grows about 40cm wide and 70cm high.
